Courtside Social
Courtside Social is a VR tennis app designed to help post-secondary undergraduate students, especially international students, de-stress, make new friends, and build a sense of community. Collaborating with two talented teammates, I contributed to creating a prototype of this innovative social support tool by focusing on user-centered design and usability testing.
The project journey included:
-
Concept Development: Brainstormed and refined the idea of combining sports and socialization through virtual reality.
-
High-Fidelity Prototype Design: Created intuitive UI elements and seamless user flows that ensure accessibility and engagement.
-
User Research: Conducted extensive testing using the think-aloud method, system usability scales, and post-study interviews to identify pain points.
-
Iteration: Enhanced the app based on user feedback, introducing features like clearer instructions, on-screen indicators (e.g., "replay" notifications), map customization options, and robust pause/exit functionalities.
Courtside Social exemplifies my ability to merge creativity with research-driven insights to deliver meaningful digital experiences. This app demonstrates my skills in VR design, user research, and collaboration to address real-world challenges with innovative technology.
